Boomer Terminology

Sasquatch Scramble:  The art of getting into and out of the water by climbing over rocks wearing fins.  When it's a big swell you must do this extremely fast or risk getting pounded into the     rocks by a wave from behind.
(Demo)

Toby:     The local deity (wave goddess) in charge of Surf.  She is also responsible for discipline and manifests herself by busting you up with a wave or by lack of waves.  Also, do not vilify her or ignore her or you could end up with a Boomer Welcome.

Wall birds:

This refers to spectators lined up at the rail to watch.  They can be tourists or bodysurfers who are watching the action.

(Example)

Jacks up:     At extreme high tide the waves hit the cliffs and bounce back.   This in turn causes it to go out to sea again as a mini wave and when it hits an incoming wave it causes the incoming wave to suddenly gain another foot or two of height and start crashing quickly.

A-Frame:     Highest point of the wave, kinda like the peak of a triangle.  This is good because it means the wave is rideable in both directions, left and right.

Boomer Welcome:

Hitting a rock or rocks.  Since this can be painful you try to avoid receiving one at all times by not pissing off Tobi.
